Araghchi Meets Aliyev in Baku; Stresses Diplomacy to Resolve Misunderstandings, Expand Ties

Tehran - BORNA - Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is visiting Baku for consultations with senior officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met and held talks with President Ilham Aliyev on Monday morning.

During the meeting, the officials exchanged views on a range of bilateral issues, including the trajectory of political interactions, matters related to neighborly relations, and mechanisms for managing ties between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister conveyed the warm greetings of President Pezeshkian to the Azerbaijani President. Referring to the deep and rooted ties between the two nations, he emphasized the strong will and determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to strengthen and expand relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan in all areas of mutual interest. The Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of a long-term perspective in neighborly relations and stressed the crucial role of continuous diplomatic consultations in resolving misunderstandings and managing issues between the two sides.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in turn, conveyed reciprocal greetings to President Pezeshkian. He described the latter's visit to Baku as a historic trip that played an important role in strengthening understanding and improving relations between the two countries. The Azerbaijani President expressed satisfaction with the growing trend of bilateral relations and emphasized Azerbaijan's readiness to utilize all available capacities to expand ties.

During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister also outlined the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding regional developments.
