Araghchi: Iran and Russia Share Identical Stances on International Issues

Tehran - BORNA - Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov welcomed the Iranian delegation, noting the intensive schedule of the visit. He highlighted the significance of the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty," which has officially entered the implementation phase, describing it as a landmark document that defines the trajectory of bilateral relations for the next 20 years.

"It is highly significant that we are holding our fifth meeting of 2025," Lavrov stated, adding that such frequent high-level contact reflects the deep commitment and close coordination between the two foreign ministries. He also announced the signing of a historic document: a consultation program between the foreign ministries of Iran and Russia for the years 2026 to 2028.

Lavrov referenced the recent meeting between Presidents Masoud Pezeshkian and Vladimir Putin in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, noting that the two leaders set clear objectives stemming from the new strategic treaty. He expressed confidence that the Moscow talks would provide an opportunity to further align positions on regional and international issues, including the Iranian nuclear program, the situation in Palestine, and broader Middle East developments.

Multidimensional Cooperation and Mutual Support

Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi expressed his gratitude for the invitation, describing the consultations between Tehran and Moscow as continuous, close, and flowing at all levels. "Our relations are comprehensive and multidimensional, spanning political, economic, cultural, defense, and security fields," Araghchi noted.

The Iranian top diplomat emphasized that the implementation of the bilateral treaty has provided further momentum to these ties. He remarked that the recent presidential meeting in Ashgabat allowed for a serious review of all aspects of bilateral relations, and the current talks in Moscow serve to finalize those executive details.

"Fortunately, we hold similar positions on almost all international issues and have consistently supported one another," Araghchi stated. He further expressed Iran's appreciation for Russia’s stance in condemning the military actions by the U.S. and the Israeli regime against Iran, as well as Moscow's solidarity with the Iranian people.

The meeting concluded with both ministers stressing the necessity of continued strategic consultations to navigate evolving regional challenges and ensure stability in their respective spheres of influence.
