Tehran - BORNA - Ghafour Kargari, President of Iran’s National Paralympic Committee, strongly condemned the crimes of the Zionist regime and called for the suspension of its membership in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

According to the National Paralympic Committee’s public relations office, Kargari, who also serves as Special Advisor to the President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, attended the IPC Conference and General Assembly in South Korea from September 24 to 27. In his speech, he denounced the brutal attacks by Israel against defenseless Palestinian civilians and urged the IPC to suspend Israel’s membership.

Referring to the massacre of over 65,000 Palestinian women and children, the blockade and deliberate starvation of the population, as well as hostile actions against Iran and other countries, Kargari stressed that “the global Paralympic community cannot remain silent in the face of such blatant crimes.”

Kargari also voiced support for the reinstatement of the National Paralympic Committees of Russia and Belarus during the assembly.

His proposal to suspend Israel’s membership received wide support from numerous Muslim countries as well as other nations present at the General Assembly.

The IPC General Assembly was held in Seoul, South Korea, on September 26–27, during which Andrew Parsons was re-elected as IPC President for a third term.
