Tehran - BORNA - Ahmadreza Rasti, CEO of IOOC, stated that the procurement of advanced rigs for deployment in the Persian Gulf represents a turning point for Iran’s offshore energy sector. “This move will accelerate the development of joint fields and significantly increase national oil and gas output,” he emphasized.
Rasti explained that the agreements were finalized under the Oil Ministry’s special authority and approved by the Board of Directors of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). The process, he added, was brought to implementation through the direct follow-up of Hamid Boures, Managing Director of NIOC.
The IOOC chief noted that technical and engineering work has already begun to prepare 350- and 400-foot drilling rigs for operation. Designed with the latest technologies and full compliance with international safety standards, these rigs are scheduled to be stationed in Iran’s offshore joint oil and gas fields according to a detailed deployment plan.
Underscoring the project’s strategic importance, Rasti said: “Securing these rigs and providing specialized drilling services in line with the highest safety and technology standards will pave the way for sustainable offshore production growth and help realize Iran’s urgent production increase program at sea.”
He further praised the efforts of Iranian workers under difficult sanction conditions, noting that the start of the rig preparation process is a practical step to enhance Iran’s share of joint fields. “With the support of the Oil Ministry and NIOC’s Board of Directors, we are witnessing greater momentum toward our development goals and expanded offshore oil and gas output,” Rasti concluded.
