The threats we face are real and immediate. China's unprecedented military buildup and its aggressive military actions speak for themselves."
The senior Pentagon official emphasized that the United States remains committed to deepening its alliance with Tokyo, adding: "This alliance between Tokyo and Washington is vital for deterring Chinese military action, addressing regional emergencies, and maintaining the security of the region."
Hegseth made a stop in Japan during his Asian tour.
