Despite claiming record popularity, Trump faces a steep decline and negative ratings in November polls. Media and analysts highlight contradictions in his claims regarding the economy and prices.

Tehran - BORNA - US President Donald Trump, 79, boasted confusingly about his supposed popularity among American voters, shouting on Truth Social: "I JUST GOT THE HIGHEST POLL NUMBERS OF MY ENTIRE 'POLITICAL LIFE'!"

The Daily Beast reported that it remains unclear which polls Trump was referring to, as several November surveys indicated that his popularity is at its lowest point since the beginning of his second term.

November polls include an Ipsos-Reuters survey which places his popularity at negative 22 percentage points, and an AP-NORC poll showing it at negative 26 percent.

The negative sign indicates that the percentage of those who disapprove of him is greater than those who approve; for example, a negative 22 rating means Trump has 22 percentage points more opponents than supporters.

According to RealClearPolling, the most favorable poll for the US President, released by the right-leaning Rasmussen Institute, registered his popularity at negative 4 percent.

Clash with Jimmy Kimmel

Trump’s long-time nemesis, ABC host Jimmy Kimmel, highlighted these numbers on the opening segment of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Thursday night.

In response to Kimmel's mention of the polls, Trump called the host "lazy" with "very poor television ratings," adding: "If anyone knows anything about bad ratings, it's this guy."

Kimmel played a montage of news reporters discussing Trump's drop in popularity and joked that he knew Trump was watching the show live by checking the time of his attack on Truth Social.

Waving, Kimmel said: "12:49 a.m., 11 minutes after the show ended on the East Coast. That’s great, he watches us live. Hello, Mr. President. Thank you for watching us on television and not YouTube... Viewers like you keep our show on the air."

Acknowledging Economic Weakness

Despite his controversial bragging about "the highest numbers ever," Trump was forced to concede that his polling on the economy is not strong.

He stated: "While my great work on the Economy has not been fully appreciated yet, it soon will be! Things are really turning around. Stopping the Wars and Foreign Relations look like a strength. Also, the Border and stopping Crime are in good shape."

According to CNN data analyst, Trump has hit a negative 34 percent rating on inflation, which is 37 points lower than the positive 3 rating he held at the beginning of his second term.

The cost of living has become a sensitive issue, following heavy defeats for Republicans in the November 2025 elections, while Democrats ran campaigns centered on solving the purchasing power problem.

Regarding Trump's claim that prices "have dropped sharply," voters and data disagree with him. Although the prices of some items, such as eggs and gasoline, have decreased, the price of food continues to increase, according to a report by PolitiFact, contrary to Trump's repeated claims.

Trump correctly pointed out that foreign policy, immigration, and crime are his strong points; according to RealClearPolling averages, he scored negative 9.6 percent, negative 3.7 percent, and zero percent, respectively, in those areas.
