Tehran - BORNA - UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that the actions taken by the United States in Venezuela represent a "dangerous precedent."
Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, said in an official statement that Guterres is "deeply concerned" by these developments and believes such actions could lead to dire consequences for stability and security across Latin America, as reported by Russia Al-Youm.
The UN chief emphasized in the statement the necessity for all parties to fully adhere to international law, including the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. He warned that "disregarding international law threatens global peace and security."
Guterres also called on all political actors in Venezuela to engage in an inclusive and comprehensive dialogue, which he stressed must take place within a framework of full respect for human rights and the rule of law.
