Tehran - BORNA - According to Al Jazeera, the interim Syrian government stated that a drone attacked the Aleppo governorate’s building, where a conference of the minister of information and social affairs and the Governor of Aleppo was scheduled to take place.
The interim Syrian government’s foreign ministry condemned the targeting of government and residential buildings in Aleppo, calling the attacks terrorist acts aimed at undermining security agreements.
Syrian state news agency SANA reported that the Aleppo health department stated that 23 Syrians were killed and 104 others injured since Tuesday due to SDF attacks on residential areas in Aleppo.
Separately, a military source told Al Jazeera that approximately 60 SDF fighters surrendered to the interim Syrian army in Sheikh Maksoud district.
Al Jazeera also reported that SDF forces are camped in the “Yassin” hospital in Sheikh Maksoud district and preparing to move northeast Syria.
The source also stated that five drones operated by SDF forces from Deir Hafir in the eastern outskirts of Aleppo were destroyed after attempting to strike areas around Aleppo.
Meanwhile, the SDF rejected allegations made by the Syrian government regarding the targeting of residential areas in Aleppo.
The SDF affirmed that its forces have not targeted any residential or city areas in Aleppo.
The SDF statement further stated that the Syrian government’s claims of a ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in Sheikh Maksoud are an attempt to distort public opinion.
The SDF added that three tanks of the interim Syrian government that shelled Khalid Fajr Hospital in the western part of Sheikh Maksoud were destroyed by the SDF forces.
Aleppo is located in northwestern Syria, near the southern border with Turkey.
Kurdish forces control vast areas in northern and eastern Syria, including major oil and gas fields. The Kurds, with the support of an international coalition led by the United States, played a role in fighting the terrorist group Daesh (ISIL or ISIS). The Syrian interim government now accuses them of attempting to defeat the merger agreement within the army and escalate the conflict into a full-scale war.
