Tehran - BORNA - The text of the statement issued by the General Staff of the Armed Forces on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the Divine Day of 22 Bahman is as follows:
The General Staff of the Armed Forces, while honoring the memory of the exalted martyrs of the Islamic Revolution—especially the innocent martyrs of the recent American-Zionist terrorist acts—emphasizes the continuation of the path of resistance and steadfastness of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the face of the system of domination and global arrogance.
The glorious and enemy-shattering revolution of the great, brave, heroic, and insightful nation of Islamic Iran, led by Imam Khomeini (may he rest in peace), which has been described as a “phenomenon of the century,” was a divine miracle and a manifestation of the faith, awareness, and steely will of free men and women—people who, inspired by the pure thought and life-giving spirit of Imam Ruhollah (may he rest in peace), descended from the lineage of Lady Fatimah al-Zahra (peace be upon her), dismantled the foundations of the 2,500-year tyrannical monarchy and bestowed independence and national dignity upon the Islamic homeland. From the very outset, this great victory confronted the system of domination with astonishment, humiliation, and a historic defeat.
The corrupt and dependent Pahlavi regime, which at the behest of its imperialist masters played the role of the region’s gendarme, had disregarded the interests of the Iranian nation and become an executor of American and European ambitions. This decayed regime was regarded as an instrument for the expansion of Western colonialism and exploitation, and like a fragile house, it collapsed and was destroyed in the face of the will of Iran’s faithful and awakened people, who had grown weary of the oppression, corruption, and endless crimes of the Pahlavi rule.
The system of domination, which saw its illegitimate interests lost with the collapse of the Pahlavi regime, began its hostility and enmity toward the Iranian nation from the very first days of the Islamic Revolution’s victory. Through assassination, insecurity, sanctions, threats, and warmongering, they sought to block the path of the Revolution; however, thanks to the wise leadership of the late Imam (may he rest in peace) and the Supreme Leader, and through the steadfastness of the insightful Iranian nation, they achieved nothing but humiliation, disgrace, and repeated failures.
The enemies—especially the United States and the Zionist regime—the more they intensified their pressures, the more they were confronted with a stronger and more resilient Iran. Now, after forty-seven years of the blessed life of the Islamic Revolution, every fair-minded and free individual can clearly see that powerful and independent Iran, despite all hostilities and pressures, has been able to scale the peaks of honor, progress, and self-confidence in the scientific, defense, technological, social, and cultural arenas.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly demonstrated that in pursuing its lofty objectives and safeguarding its national interests, it stands powerfully and resolutely against any kind of threat, conspiracy, or excessive demand, and confronts threats with a more crushing and wider response. The Iranian nation, relying on divine faith and the wise leadership of Imam Khamenei, and drawing upon its brave sons and its efficient, popular armed forces, will never retreat from the path of progress, dignity, and national power, and will steadfastly safeguard the lofty ideals of the Islamic Revolution and the honor of the homeland.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces calls upon the zealous, faithful, and loyal nation of Islamic Iran to create another enduring epic through their magnificent and unity-building presence in the nationwide 22 Bahman march, and to once again disappoint the global arrogance—especially the United States and the helpless Zionist regime—in their continued conspiracies against the proud Iranian nation.
