Tehran - BORNA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement on the latest developments in the South Caucasus, stressing that Tehran is closely monitoring ongoing trends in the region and remains in contact with both neighboring countries, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.

"Undoubtedly, peace and stability in the Caucasus are in the interest of all regional countries," the statement read. "The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes the finalization of the peace agreement text by the two countries and considers this development an important step toward achieving lasting peace in the region."

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the negative consequences of any form of foreign intervention — particularly near Iran’s shared borders — that could undermine regional security and stability.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran, while emphasizing the adoption of all political, legal, and economic measures to safeguard its national rights and interests, believes that the establishment of communication routes and the unblocking of transportation networks will serve stability, security, and the economic development of the nations in the region only if carried out within the framework of mutual interests, respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and without foreign interference," the statement added.

The Foreign Ministry reiterated Iran’s readiness to continue constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with both Azerbaijan and Armenia to safeguard peace, stability, and economic development in the region, through bilateral and regional mechanisms such as the 3+3 format.
