Iran Wins Asian Junior Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship with 4 Gold and 5 Bronze Medals

Iran’s national junior Greco-Roman wrestling team was crowned champion of Asia after winning a total of nine medals — 4 gold and 5 bronze — at the 2025 Asian Championships held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on July 8–9.

Tehran - BORNA - Iran clinched the continental title with 185 points, followed by host nation Kyrgyzstan with 166 points and Uzbekistan with 151 points.

Gold Medalists

Payam Ahmadi (55kg): Defeated Turkmenistan’s Nuriyagdy Doranov (9–4), Kazakhstan’s Yersil Mousan (8–3), and Kyrgyzstan’s Kutman Kalbayev (6–1) in the final.

Ahoora Bouyeri (77kg): After a first-round bye, beat China’s Wentao Rao (9–0), Japan’s Fuga Misazo (9–2, fall), and Kazakhstan’s Omar Duisumbek (15–6, fall) in the final.

Mohammad Hadi Seyyedi (97kg): Beat Uzbekistan’s Javohir Khojaev (5–1), India’s Naman (9–0), and South Korea’s Jinwoo Choi (9–0) in the final.

Abolfazl Fathi Tezangi (130kg): Beat Kyrgyzstan’s Ilya Bubkov (8–0), China’s Yersheng Yergen (9–0), and Uzbekistan’s Amirkhan Berdikulov (2–1, fall) in the final.

Bronze Medalists:

Seyed Iman Hosseini (60kg): Defeated Japan’s Souta Sakaki (7–1), lost to India’s Suraj (0–9), but beat Kazakhstan’s Alpamis Bolatuly (9–0) for bronze.

Mohammad Javad Aboutalebi (63kg): Defeated Saudi Arabia’s Haithem Brahma (8–0), Tajikistan’s Mohammadyon Abdullayev (9–0), lost to Kyrgyzstan’s Amiran Duyushenaliev (1–7, fall), then beat Uzbekistan’s Sardar Khulmurzaev (5–3).

Gholamreza Abdoli (67kg): Beat Kazakhstan’s Alibek Turlygazi (6–5), lost to Kyrgyzstan’s Zhanaturo Mirzaliev (1–6), then defeated Tajikistan’s Sonat Abdullayev (5–3).

Amir Mahdi Saeedi Nava (72kg): Beat China’s Rihao Yan (8–5), lost to Uzbekistan’s Ahmad Kodirov (4–4, fall), then beat India’s Akash Poonia (10–4, fall).

Hamidreza Keshtkar (87kg): Defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Asilbek Niyazbek Ulu (8–0) and Chinese Taipei’s Chen Sung (5–1), lost to Kazakhstan’s Tamerlan Turdakin (0–8), then beat China’s Xinyu Liu (6–0, fall).
