Tehran - BORNA - Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said on Saturday: "The U.S. military operation in Caracas proved that every country must strengthen its armed forces."
He added: "The U.S. operation showed that every nation must increase its military power to the maximum extent possible and not allow 'arrogant wealthy' entities to determine the fate of nations through regime change."
Highlighting that this military operation was carried out against a sovereign nation that posed no threat to the United States, Medvedev remarked: "The events in Venezuela are a great example of building the 'American Peace' (Pax Americana)."
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council further asserted: "The only real guarantee for the reliable protection of a country is possessing an arsenal of nuclear weapons."
Medvedev pointed out that "in so-called democratic Europe, there is almost complete silence regarding what is happening in Venezuela." He added that it would have been better if Trump had displayed the same level of activity he showed in Venezuela "somewhere else entirely."
Concluding his remarks with a sarcastic tone regarding the U.S. actions in Venezuela, Medvedev described the move as "another brilliant step on the path toward receiving the Nobel Peace Prize."
These statements come as Washington continues to face international scrutiny over its military intervention and the reported capture of the Venezuelan leadership.
