Fateme Moradkhani, Tech Reporter | Borna News Agency: The head of the Iranian Space Research Center, Vahid Yazdanian announced the completion of the second prototype of the communication satellite Nahid-2 and confirmed that it, along with the second prototype of the remote-sensing satellite Pars-1, will be launched in December and January of this year.

Speaking to Borna News Agency's Moradkhani, Yazdanian said: “The launch of the Nahid-2 communication satellite has so far been successful, and it has been placed into orbit. At the moment, we are reducing its speed in order to stabilize it, which will allow us to test the Ku-band (the band used for data transmission). This process of speed reduction will be completed within the next one to two weeks, after which we can begin receiving services from Nahid-2.”

He further noted: “Yesterday, we carried out two satellite passes — the midnight and afternoon passes for Nahid-2 and successfully received telemetry data. Nahid-2 is the country’s first communication satellite that has been launched and is now providing services.”

Yazdanian went on to add that the second prototype of Nahid-2 has been completed and that both Nahid-2 and the second prototype of Pars-1 will be launched with a domestic launch vehicle by December or January this year.

He explained that the second Nahid-2 has the same features and missions as the one recently launched. He also confirmed that in addition to the launch of Nahid-2, the second prototype of the remote-sensing satellite Pars-1 will also be launched using a domestic carrier in December.
