Iran, IAEA Finalize Framework for Cooperation Under New Conditions
Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have finalized a new framework for cooperation in light of the recent illegal attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran’s safeguarded nuclear facilities, officials announced on Tuesday.

Tehran - BORNA - The development was confirmed as Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, heading a diplomatic delegation in Cairo, met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Araghchi briefed the Egyptian leader on the progress of Iran–Egypt relations at both bilateral and multilateral levels, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation in economic, trade, tourism, and regional security fields.

President el-Sisi welcomed the positive trajectory of ties between the two countries and underlined the importance of continued consultations to serve the interests of both nations and the wider region.

Araghchi also expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the IAEA, particularly hosting the joint session that resulted in the finalization of the new cooperation framework. He described this as a “clear sign of mutual understanding and trust” between Iran and Egypt that should be used as a valuable foundation to further strengthen relations.

The meeting also covered regional developments, including the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, Israel’s ongoing crimes and genocide in occupied Palestine, and the regime’s repeated aggressions against regional states, including Tuesday’s attack on Qatar. Both sides emphasized the urgent need for regional cooperation to halt Israel’s warmongering and safeguard regional security.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei told IRIB News that following discussions between Araghchi and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, Iran and the Agency had reached an understanding on how to implement safeguards obligations under the extraordinary circumstances created by the recent unlawful attacks.
