Araghchi: Iran Has Fulfilled Its Commitments, Now It Is Europe’s Turn
Tehran - BORNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a joint phone call with the foreign ministers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, to discuss nuclear issues and the lifting of sanctions against Iran.
Araghchi underlined Iran’s principled stance on the importance of maintaining dialogue and diplomacy to avoid further escalation. He rejected the move by the three European countries to reinstate previously lifted UN Security Council sanctions as lacking any legal or logical justification.
“Iran has engaged with the IAEA responsibly and has prepared a clear procedural framework for implementing its safeguards obligations under the new circumstances. This step must be valued and recognized by all sides,” Araghchi said. “It is now the turn of the other parties to use this opportunity to keep diplomacy on track and demonstrate seriousness and commitment toward dialogue.”
He further emphasized that Iran remains ready to reach a fair and balanced solution that secures mutual interests. Achieving such an outcome, he added, requires a responsible and independent approach by the three European countries, free from the influence of actors who disregard diplomacy and the principles of international law.
During the call, the sides also exchanged views and proposals aimed at continuing diplomatic efforts.
