Araghchi: UNSC Resolution 2231 Must Be Considered Terminated on Its Due Date
Iran’s Foreign Minister thanked Pakistan for its responsible stance at the UN Security Council in opposing the misuse of the mechanism by the three European countries, stressing that Resolution 2231 must, in accordance with its provisions and the text of the JCPOA, be deemed terminated on its due date, October 18, 2025.

Tehran - BORNA - Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, and Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, held a telephone conversation on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and international developments.

During the call, both sides highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest and stressed the need to strengthen coordination and collaboration both bilaterally and within international organizations to safeguard regional and international peace and stability.

The Iranian and Pakistani foreign ministers also identified the Palestinian issue as the most pressing matter of the Islamic world and called for urgent and effective action by Islamic countries to end the genocide of Palestinians and to prosecute and punish the perpetrators.

Araghchi expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s responsible position at the UN Security Council in opposing the attempt by the three European countries to misuse the JCPOA’s dispute resolution mechanism to reinstate expired UN Security Council resolutions. He emphasized that Resolution 2231 must, under its provisions and the JCPOA, be regarded as terminated on its scheduled date of October 18, 2025.
