Baghaei: G7 Statement on Iran Distorts Reality and Is Deceitful
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has strongly condemned the recent statement by the Group of Seven (G7) on Iran’s nuclear program, describing it as a distortion of reality and fundamentally deceitful.

Tehran - BORNA - Baghaei on Thursday denounced the G7’s endorsement of the unlawful and unjustified move by the three European countries and the United States to reinstate terminated UN Security Council resolutions against Iran. He said the move was made through abuse of the JCPOA dispute settlement mechanism and without any legal or logical justification.

He stressed that the G7’s position amounted to support for an act in clear violation of international law and underlined that “this stance in no way alters the fundamentally illegal and unjustifiable nature of the measure.”

Referring to the Israeli military aggression against Iran during diplomatic negotiations—carried out with U.S. coordination and followed by direct American strikes against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities—Baghaei dismissed as a “blatant falsehood” the G7’s claim that the U.S. and European states “repeatedly offered good-faith diplomatic solutions to prevent reversal and achieve a comprehensive, sustainable negotiated outcome.”

He asserted that the United States, by its unlawful and unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018, persistent violations of international law in relation to Iran, and obstruction of the deal’s implementation, bore primary responsibility for the current situation.

Baghaei added that the three European countries, by following Washington’s lead, failing to fulfill their own obligations, and supporting both the U.S. and Israel in the military assault against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, not only committed “material non-performance” of their JCPOA commitments but also, through clear bad faith, disregarded all of Iran’s diplomatic initiatives and efforts.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson further condemned the G7’s indifference toward Israel’s nuclear arsenal, describing the group’s approach to non-proliferation as hypocritical. He stressed that these seven states, due to their deceitful and irresponsible behavior regarding the rule of law and international peace and security, “lack any moral authority to lecture others.”
