Tehran - BORNA - The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran held discussions with the Interior Minister of Pakistan on Tuesday regarding the enhancement of bilateral relations to a deeper and more strategic level.

During the meeting, Larijani emphasized the importance of the geopolitical position of Iran and Pakistan in regional equations, stating: "The relationship between Tehran and Islamabad has the capacity to move beyond the level of current cooperation and be elevated to the level of a stable strategic partnership."

He further referred to the recent strategic pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, describing the agreement as "a smart and positive step against common threats," and added: "The region today faces common enemies and challenges, and the response to these threats requires tangible, coordinated, and comprehensive measures among Muslim countries."

The Advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution also stressed the necessity of deepening cooperation in the security, defense, political, and especially economic spheres. He expressed appreciation for the Pakistani government's stances during the 12-day war between Iran and the Zionist regime, considering it a sign of a shared understanding of the region's strategic realities.

The Interior Minister of Pakistan, in turn, emphasized the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and security bonds between the two nations, saying: "Iran is a friendly, brotherly country and a partner for Pakistan. Islamabad desires a strong, stable, and leading Iran."

Concluding the discussion, the two sides reviewed the latest regional developments and emphasized the necessity of increasing strategic coordination and relying on political and diplomatic solutions for resolving regional and security issues. Increasing the level of trade exchanges and strengthening the two countries' economic interactions were also central themes of the meeting.
