Araghchi: Iran Ready to Send Immediate Aid to Afghanistan Earthquake Victims
Tehran - BORNA - Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, wrote in a message on the social media network X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday: "The recurrence of the devastating earthquake in parts of northern Afghanistan, which led to the loss of lives of many citizens and caused widespread damage, resulted in deep sorrow and regret."
The Iranian Foreign Minister further wrote: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, while expressing heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the government and people of Afghanistan and the bereaved families, prays for the swift recovery of those injured in this incident."
Afghanistan's caretaker government announced that the 6.3-magnitude earthquake on Monday has so far claimed 27 lives and injured nearly 1,000 others in the country.
Araghchi concluded by emphasizing: "The Islamic Republic of Iran announces its readiness to immediately dispatch humanitarian and relief aid to the earthquake-stricken areas."
