Kremlin: Neither Russia Nor China Are Conducting Nuclear Weapons Tests
The Kremlin spokesman said today (Sunday) that neither Russia nor China are conducting nuclear weapons tests, and that Putin has not issued an order to prepare for atomic tests, stressing that the feasibility must first be determined.

Tehran - BORNA - Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the country remains committed to the nuclear test ban, but if another country conducts tests, Moscow will maintain parity.

Quoting the RIA Novosti news agency, Peskov further said: "The Burevestnik and Poseidon tests are not nuclear explosions. They are great advancements with nuclear energy."

He also dismissed claims equating these tests with nuclear tests as "superficial and wrong," adding that such technologies will not appear elsewhere anytime soon.

The Kremlin spokesman continued that Moscow is seeking clarification from Washington regarding Trump's statements on nuclear testing.

The Kremlin official, while stating that Russia will try to understand exactly what Trump meant, noted that the US President's remarks "seemed quite unambiguous. It appears the United States is ready to resume nuclear tests in the near future."

In another part of his comments, the Kremlin spokesman warned that Russia would counter any nuclear test, committing to maintaining "parity," and added that neither Russia nor China are currently engaged in nuclear weapons testing.
