Iran Rejects G7 Claims as Baseless, Irresponsible
Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, rejected the claims concerning the Islamic Republic of Iran, contained in the final statement of the G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Canada, as baseless, irresponsible, and unacceptable.

Tehran - BORNA - In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson deemed the G7 member states' repetition of the irresponsible position—endorsing the illegal and unjustified action by the three European countries (E3) and the US to misuse the JCPOA's dispute resolution mechanism to snap back cancelled UN Security Council resolutions against Iran—as support for an international transgression. He stressed that this G7 position in no way whitewashes the illegal and unjustified nature of the E3 and US action.

The senior diplomat of the Islamic Republic recalled the illegal military aggression by Israel and the US against Iran and the attack on the country's peaceful nuclear facilities. He described the G7's request for Iran to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), without the slightest mention of the joint crime committed by the US and Israel, as hypocritical and interventionist. He stressed: Fundamentally, the US is the main culprit for the current situation due to its illegal and unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 and the military attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities. The three European countries, by following the US, failing to fulfill their obligations, and supporting the military aggression by the US and Israel against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, not only committed a flagrant violation of their JCPOA commitments but also, with clear bad faith, disregarded all of Iran's initiatives and efforts to advance diplomacy.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson also deemed the G7's position on the Palestinian issue as irresponsible and contrary to their international obligations to respect the nations' right to self-determination and prevent genocide. He stated that the comprehensive support by the US and other G7 member states for Israel, and their appeasement regarding the occupation and genocide of Palestinians, strip this group's human rights claims of any standing or credibility.

Baghaei also rejected the G7's repeated and irresponsible claim against Iran regarding the Ukraine conflict. He reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran's principled stance on this matter, which is opposition to war and the necessity of ending the conflict through dialogue and diplomatic negotiation between the relevant parties. He added: The Islamic Republic of Iran has no involvement in the Ukraine conflict, and the accusers must acknowledge and correct their misguided policies regarding global peace and security, instead of insisting on "self-importance" and "blaming others."
