Iran Warns US Military Moves in Caribbean Threaten Global Peace
Tehran - BORNA - The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson deemed the threat of resorting to force against the legal and elected government of Venezuela as a clear violation of law and a flagrant breach of the principles of the UN Charter, particularly the principle of the self-determination of nations and the principle prohibiting the use of force, as enshrined in Article 2, paragraph 4.
Referencing numerous international reports describing US attacks against fishing boats as arbitrary and extrajudicial killings, Baghaei emphasized the necessity of stopping the misuse of the subject of drug trafficking countermeasures as a pretext for violating Venezuela's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson also reminded the United Nations and the Secretary-General of their responsibility to prevent the violation of international peace and security and to counter the promotion of aggressive unilateralism globally.
