Iran Warns Against Destructive Moves by US, E3 at IAEA Board of Governors
Tehran - BORNA - Reza Najafi, the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), responded to reporters' questions regarding the action by the US and the three European countries (France, Germany, and the UK) in presenting a new draft resolution to the IAEA Board of Governors.
Najafi stated: The US and the E3, in continuation of their misuse of international mechanisms to impose their illogical and bullying views against the Iranian nation, are attempting to impose in Vienna what they failed to achieve in New York by exploiting their numerical majority in the IAEA Board of Governors.
He stressed that imposing reporting requirements on the Director General based on expired UN Security Council resolutions is not only a completely illegal and unjustified act but will also practically add to the existing complexities and deal another blow to diplomacy.
Najafi also emphasized that the illegal action by the US and the E3 creates no change in the current status of safeguards implementation in Iran, which is the result of the criminal aggression by the US and Israel against Iran, and the collusion and complicity of the three European countries.
The Iranian Representative, while inviting all member states of the Board of Governors to oppose the destructive unilateralism of the US and the E3 regarding Iran's nuclear issue, emphasized Iran's right to take an appropriate response to any illegal and unjustified move by the US and the E3.
