IRGC spox: Iran showed its missile power is deterrent during 12-day war
Tehran - BORNA - Speaking in a ceremony at the University of Tehran on Thursday, Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini pointed to the 12-day US-backed Israeli-imposed war against Iran in June, stating that the war was the most complex one in the world, and the enemy's miscalculations about the components of Iran's power and reliance on material structures were the main factors behind their defeat.
Turning to the eight years of the Sacred Defense (Iraqi imposed war against Iran between 1980-1988), the IRGC spokesman said that the enemy at the time made such a big blunder and miscalculation that underestimated the real power of the Islamic Establishment in Iran, which has roots in its popular support.
Naeini emphasized that the recent war was a "strategic turning point," adding that the 12-day war was Iran's battle with all NATO countries and the US Central Command (CENTCOM), and with that, it [Iran] changed the power equations in West Asia.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the spokesman referred to the top Iranian commanders assassinated by the Israeli regime including martyrs Rashid, Salami, and Hajizadeh who were always reviewing the scenarios of war constantly.
"After the assassination of former Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, it became clear that the outbreak of war was certain," he underlined.
"The 12-day Israeli imposed war is a model for learning lessons against modern threats, new- and hybrid wars," he said, noting that this war showed that cyberspace, media, societal perception, and technology play a fundamental role in modern wars.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran while Washington and Tehran were in a process of nuclear negotiations. The Israeli attack triggered a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.
The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the aggression.
