Bronze Glimmers Like Gold: Iran's Women's Handball Team Takes Third Place
Tehran - BORNA - The Iranian Women's National Handball Team won the bronze medal today, Thursday, November 20, after defeating Uzbekistan 29-25 in the third-place playoff of the Islamic Countries Games, which started at 12:30 PM.
The squad, coached by Ana Cristina Ciora, was drawn into Group A for the preliminary round with Turkey, Guinea, and the Maldives. With two victories against Guinea and the Maldives, and one loss to Turkey, the team advanced to the semi-finals as the second-place team. The national team was defeated by Kazakhstan in the semi-finals but triumphed over Uzbekistan in the third-place match to win the bronze medal. Alireza Pakdel, President of the Iranian Handball Federation, was present in the arena to watch the match.
The results of Iran's Women's National Handball Team at the Islamic Countries Games were as follows: a loss to Turkey (28-36), wins against Guinea (23-21) and the Maldives (49-13), a loss to Kazakhstan in the semi-final (26-29), and finally, the decisive win against Uzbekistan in the third-place match (29-25).

The Islamic Countries Games handball competitions took place in Riyadh from November 13 to 21 this year.
