Tehran: Australia's Political Action Against IRGC is a Criminal Precedent
Tehran - BORNA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a statement on Thursday, strongly condemned the offensive and unwarranted action by the Australian government in labeling Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to the statement, the Islamic Republic of Iran deems this action illegal, unjustifiable, and violative of the rules and norms of international law-respecting national sovereignty of governments. Expressing disgust with the alignment of some Australian policymakers with the wicked policy of the genocidal Israeli regime in spreading lies against Iran, the Ministry emphasized the international responsibility of the Australian government for this wrongful act.
This irresponsible action is an extension of a gross mistake committed by the Australian government based on entirely fabricated and baseless accusations fabricated by the security institutions of the Zionist regime. This action sacrificed the long-standing Iran-Australia diplomatic relationship for the sake of appeasing the occupying Zionist regime. This comes despite the fact that competent Australian authorities, including the New South Wales Police on October 25, 2025, explicitly acknowledged the fictitious nature of the allegation of Iranian involvement in actions against Jewish targets, stating clearly that there is no evidence or proof of Iranian interference in the alleged anti-Jewish activities in Australia.
The Islamic Republic of Iran emphasizes that the Australian government's political action is a dangerous and criminal precedent designed with the influence of the Zionist regime and intended to divert public opinion from the genocide in Gaza. Therefore, it amounts to complicity by the perpetrators of this action with the criminals who are being prosecuted by the International Criminal Court.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled the high, empowering, and honorable position of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a part of the official armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has played an indispensable role in defending Iran's territory and national security against foreign aggression and countering terrorism, including ISIS. It stressed the determination of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to take all necessary measures to defend the status and credibility of its armed forces against any hostile labeling.
Australia, continuing its hostile measures against Iran, placed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on its so-called list of "State Sponsors of Terrorism" this morning.
