Iranian, Taliban Officials Discuss Expanding Strategic Economic Cooperation
High-ranking Iranian officials from the transportation and mining sectors held talks with Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, to discuss the expansion of bilateral economic ties.

Tehran - BORNA - Iran’s embassy in Kabul announced that Jabbar-Ali Zakeri, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Head of the Railway Company; Mohammad Masoud Samieinejad, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade and Head of the IMIDRO Organization; and Saeed Zarandi, CEO of Isfahan Mobarakeh Steel Company, along with accompanying delegations, met with Abdul Ghani Mullah Baradar, the Economic Deputy of the Prime Minister of Afghanistan, and discussed the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Previously, in a meeting between the heads of the railways of Iran and Afghanistan, it was announced that in the year 2026, 1.5 million tons of cargo will be transported between the two countries via the Khaf-Herat railway.
