Somali FM expresses gratitude to Iran for its stance
Tehran - BORNA - After the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning what it described as the Israeli regime’s violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity through recognition of Somaliland, Somalia's foreign ministry thanked Iran for its supportive stance.
The Somali ministry wrote on X that, “We express our sincere appreciation and thanks to Iran for your support for Somalia’s sovereignty and unity.”
The spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry Esmaeil Baghaei lambasted Zionist regime's move, calling it a blatant violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a clear breach of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
The Iranian spokesman described the Zionist regime's action as an attempt to advance a plot aimed at disintegrating the Islamic country.
Baghaei also reaffirmed the principled stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the necessity of preserving national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
He said the Israeli move aligns with the regime’s broader policy of destabilizing countries in the region and exacerbating insecurity in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa.
He also voiced Iran’s support for the firm positions taken by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the African Union in denouncing the move, further calling on the international community to take decisive action to counter what he described as an expansionist and destabilizing act by the occupying Israeli regime.
