AFC Grants Al-Nassr License for AFC Champions League 2 — Potential Clash with Esteghlal?
Saudi club Al-Nassr has officially been granted a license by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to compete in the second-tier AFC Champions League, opening the door to a potential face-off with Iranian side Esteghlal.

Tehran - BORNA - Following a disappointing season in which the club failed to secure any titles or qualify for the top-tier AFC Champions League Elite, Al-Nassr will now participate in AFC Champions League 2.

According to Saudi Sport, the AFC confirmed that Al-Nassr met all eligibility criteria to receive the Asian license required for participation.

In an official statement, Al-Nassr Club announced it had fulfilled all AFC requirements — including financial, administrative, and technical standards — thus earning the right to represent Saudi Arabia in continental competition.

Despite missing out on the top-tier competition, Al-Nassr, with its roster of international stars, remains one of the top contenders for the AFC Champions League 2 title.

Should the tournament draw align accordingly, a highly anticipated matchup between Al-Nassr and Esteghlal of Iran could take place — a clash that would draw major regional attention.
