UAE President Quashes Rumors of His Death with Lunar New Year Message
Tehran - BORNA - Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed published the message on his official account on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, extending his wishes for happiness on the occasion of the Lunar New Year in the UAE and around the world.
Citing the Arabic-language outlet Arabi21, the report said the UAE president expressed hope that the new lunar year would bring peace, stability and prosperity to people across the globe.
The message was posted amid circulating reports in recent days claiming a deterioration in his health and alleging his death.
Prior to the Lunar New Year post, Sheikh Mohammed had shared images of a meeting with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Speculation about the UAE president’s death intensified in recent hours after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan postponed a planned visit to the UAE due to what was described as a health issue concerning the Emirati leader, although Turkey’s presidency later removed the related statement.
In the same context, some Saudi social media accounts circulated rumors about his possible death. The reports came against a backdrop of ongoing media tensions between the two countries over the past two months, following developments in Yemen and efforts by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council to assert control in the south of the country. Saudi Arabia subsequently launched a military operation that led to the expulsion of UAE-backed forces from several Yemeni cities.
