Iran Designates EU Member States’ Naval and Air Forces as Terrorist Organizations
In response to the labeling of part of Iran’s armed forces by European Union member states, Iran has designated the naval and air forces of EU member countries as terrorist organizations.

Tehran - BORNA - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement regarding reciprocal measures in response to what it described as the unlawful decision by EU member states to label part of Iran’s armed forces.

The full text of the Foreign Ministry’s statement is as follows:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in response to the unlawful and unjustified decision by the governments of the European Union member states on 30 Bahman 1404 (February 19, 2026), declares the following:

Given that the governments of the European Union member states, in violation of the fundamental principles and rules of the United Nations Charter and international law, have designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)—which is recognized as one of the official pillars of the country’s armed forces—as a terrorist entity, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the principle of reciprocity and pursuant to Article 7 of the 2019 law entitled ‘Reciprocal Action Against the Designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a Terrorist Organization by the United States,’ which stipulates that ‘all countries that in any manner follow or support the decision of the United States of America to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization shall be subject to reciprocal action,’ considers the naval and air forces of all European Union member states to be subject to the aforementioned law and its provisions, including Article 4. Accordingly, within the framework of reciprocal measures, it designates and declares them as terrorist organizations.”
