Baghaei: Negotiations Focused on Nuclear Issue
Tehran - BORNA - Esmail Baghaei said on the sidelines of the second day of talks in Geneva that during the meeting, Iran’s views and positions were conveyed in detail to the Omani side.
“As far as I am aware, since this morning, discussions and negotiations between the Omani and American sides have begun, and we will be present at the negotiation venue in about 30 to 45 minutes,” he added.
Baghaei also noted that Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, will join the third round of talks, as he did during the second round.
The Iranian diplomat stressed that the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran has entered the negotiations with full preparedness and seriousness. He said experts in nuclear affairs, sanctions relief, legal, and economic matters are part of the Iranian team, adding that Iran is ready to continue the talks for as long as necessary.
He reiterated: “We have entered these negotiations with seriousness and full readiness.”
Regarding Wednesday night’s consultations between Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Omani counterpart, as well as the proposal delivered by Iran to Oman as mediator, Baghaei emphasized that the negotiations are focused on the nuclear issue.
“Our positions on sanctions relief and our country’s rights regarding nuclear technology are clear and well-defined. Under these two headings, we have presented our views to the Omani side, and the details are being discussed in the course of exchanges between the two delegations,” he said.
