Progress in Indirect Talks: Tehran and Washington Review Nuclear Proposals via Omani Mediation
Tehran - BORNA - According to IRIB’s special correspondent near the negotiation site, discussions began immediately upon the arrival of the Iranian delegation and are ongoing. Omani mediators facilitating the dialogue have indicated that both Tehran and Washington have expressed a “positive outlook” toward each other’s latest proposals, a development seen as a potential breakthrough in the current diplomatic stalemate.
The Iranian delegation has presented a set of detailed proposals addressing technical nuclear issues, aiming to ensure the country’s peaceful nuclear program remains within established frameworks, as well as outlining the steps necessary for the comprehensive removal of economic sanctions.
In a significant development, Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, has joined the talks as a technical monitor, providing oversight expected to help advance the discussions with greater precision and seriousness.
Despite progress reported from inside the negotiation rooms, the IRIB correspondent noted a sense of “confusion and contradiction” in statements from some U.S. officials, particularly those not present in Geneva. Analysts suggest these mixed messages may be a strategic effort to secure further concessions. However, Omani sources maintain that the reception of Iran’s proposals through official diplomatic channels has been positive, even describing the current engagement as having received a “green light.”
