Araghchi: Supreme Leader and Officials Safe, Only One or Two Commanders Killed
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, told NBC News that the Supreme Leader, President, and most senior officials are safe, and only one or two commanders were killed in the attacks.

Tehran - BORNA - Araghchi stated: “Two commanders were martyred during the U.S. and Israeli attacks, but senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran remain alive. Almost all officials are safe; we may have lost one or two commanders, but this is not a major issue.”

He emphasized Iran’s defensive capabilities, saying: “Our ability to defend ourselves is unlimited, but as soon as the aggression stops, we will also halt our response. We strike U.S. bases in defense of ourselves. We cannot simply sit and watch while they attack us.”

Araghchi also criticized U.S. actions during negotiations: “I don’t understand why the U.S. insists on starting talks and then attacks the other side in the middle of negotiations!”

He added that he had been in contact with officials in the Gulf region to clarify that Iran has no intention of attacking them, stressing that Iranian strikes on U.S. bases in the region are purely defensive.

Regarding the claim promoted by the U.S. and Israel about regime change in Iran, Araghchi said: “Regime change is an impossible mission. You cannot change a regime while millions of people support it. No foreign president, no matter how powerful, has the right to make decisions for another country’s people.”

He continued: “We are a great nation with a glorious civilization that has endured for thousands of years. We know how to defend ourselves and we will survive.”

Araghchi further emphasized that there is currently no direct communication with the U.S., but added: “If Americans want to talk to us, they know how to reach me.”

Finally, responding to U.S. demands, he stated: “We will not give up our rights, including uranium enrichment.”
