Condolence Message from the President Following the Assassination of the Leader of the Revolution
Tehran - BORNA - The full text of Pezeshkian’s message is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
“And do not say of those who are killed in the way of Allah that they are dead; rather, they are alive, but you perceive it not.”
With deep sorrow and profound grief, the great commander of the Islamic Ummah, the exalted Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, was martyred at the hands of the vilest of evildoers. This tragic event represents the greatest trial facing today’s Islamic world. The assassination of the highest political authority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a prominent leader and reference of the Shia world, by the cursed American-Zionist axis constitutes an overt declaration of war against Muslims, particularly Shia communities across the globe. Over the past 37 years, under the wise guidance and leadership of the late Supreme Leader, Iran has steadfastly continued the luminous path of Imam Khomeini, becoming a center of resistance against arrogance and a symbol of independence.
The Supreme Leader, relying on the will and support of the people, granted dignity and honor to the Iranian nation, and, like a mighty pillar, stood as a thorn in the eyes of Islam’s and Iran’s enemies. His prudence, foresight, perseverance against oppression, devotion to Imam Khomeini and the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, compassion, knowledge, patience, honesty, and sincere faith in God have secured for the martyred Imam Khamenei an enduring and immortal place alongside Imam Khomeini in contemporary history. Indeed, martyrdom in the struggle against the enemies of Islam was befitting of the esteemed Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The Islamic Republic of Iran considers seeking retribution and punishing those responsible for this historic crime a legitimate duty and will fully dedicate its power to fulfilling this grave responsibility.
I once again offer my condolences to the Islamic Ummah, the honorable Iranian nation, and all followers and supporters of this immortal leader. I reaffirm my firm resolve and unwavering determination to continue the path of this great historical figure and pray to Almighty God for increasing unity and solidarity among the officials and the people of Iran in realizing the lofty ideals of the Islamic Revolution and advancing justice and freedom in society.
Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran
