U.S. and Israeli Attack Targets Irradiation Facility in Isfahan; No Increase in Radiation Reported
Iran’s National Nuclear Safety System has announced that a gamma sterilization irradiation facility in Isfahan Province was targeted in an air and missile attack by the United States and Israel on March 7, 2026, causing severe damage to the facility. However, no increase in radiation levels has been reported so far.

Tehran - BORNA - The Iran National Nuclear Safety System said in a statement that on March 7, 2026, it received information about air and missile strikes carried out by the Israeli regime and the United States against a gamma sterilization irradiation facility in Isfahan Province.

The attack caused significant damage to the facility.

The statement noted that the facility had been used to improve the quality and extend the shelf life of agricultural products through irradiation technology.

According to the announcement, environmental monitoring results so far show no increase in gamma dose levels and no other radioactive contamination in the surrounding environment.

Earlier, the National Nuclear Safety System had also reported air and missile attacks on the Natanz Nuclear Facility by Israel and the United States.

Despite the prohibition on attacking nuclear facilities and the fact that such actions contradict all international norms and principles, the Natanz nuclear facility was again targeted by air and missile strikes on March 1, 2026.

At the same time, the center stated that no increase in radiation levels outside the site has been reported.

The statement has been shared with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Iran’s mission to the agency has also pursued and condemned the attack on the country’s nuclear facilities.
