Joe Kent: Israel Must Be Restrained First to De-escalate Tensions
A former U.S. official stressed that the first step toward reducing tensions in the region must be restraining Israel, warning that otherwise the conflict will escalate.
Tehran - BORNA - Joe Kent, former director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, wrote in a post on the social media platform X: “Step one of de-escalation must be restraining the Israelis; otherwise, all efforts at negotiation will follow this pattern.”
He added that while the U.S. president publicly speaks of de-escalation, Israel carries out major attacks aimed at undermining negotiations and, in turn, weakening the ability to negotiate.
He further emphasized that, ultimately, “the war will accelerate.”
