Iran, France FMs Discuss Regional Developments, War Implications in Phone Call
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation to discuss regional developments and the security and economic consequences of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.

Tehran - BORNA - Iran’s foreign minister, while outlining the crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime during the month-long military aggression against Iran, strongly criticized the positions of some European countries that have merely expressed concern over the economic consequences of the imposed war while remaining silent on the brutal attacks carried out by the aggressors against the Iranian people.

Araghchi emphasized the continuation of Iran’s defensive operations against the aggressors, including their military bases and facilities stationed in the territory of regional countries, stating that these defensive actions are a response to the United States’ use of those territories, bases, and installations to conduct an illegal war against Iran.

He further stressed that the root cause of the insecurity imposed on the Strait of Hormuz is the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, adding that the waterway is closed to vessels belonging to parties involved in the aggression. He noted that this decision has been made in accordance with international law to prevent aggressors from exploiting the Strait of Hormuz for illegal attacks against Iran, while vessels of other countries continue to pass through the waterway in coordination with competent Iranian authorities.

Iran’s foreign minister also warned that any provocative actions by aggressors and their supporters, including at the United Nations Security Council regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, would only further complicate the situation.

The French foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s opposition to the imposed war against Iran and attacks on civilian targets. He also expressed concern over escalating tensions in the region, including in Lebanon, and stressed the need to strengthen political and diplomatic efforts to find a solution to end the war and restore stability and security in the region.

The foreign ministers of Iran and France also exchanged views on some consular issues and emphasized the continuation of diplomatic engagement between the two countries at various levels.
