Pezeshkian: Any Foreign Intervention in War Will Have Dangerous Consequences
The Iranian president criticized the negative approach and biased positions of the European Union and some European countries regarding the blatant aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, stressing that the military aggression constitutes a flagrant violation of the rule of law and an assault on all the principles and norms that the EU claims to uphold.

Tehran - BORNA - Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and António Costa, President of the European Council, held a phone conversation to discuss the latest situation and consequences of the imposed war by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, as well as the current regional conditions.

During the conversation, Pezeshkian criticized the negative approach and biased positions of the European Union and some European countries regarding the overt aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, stating that this military aggression is not only an unprecedented crime against the Iranian nation but also a blatant violation of the rule of law and an assault on all the principles and norms that the EU claims to safeguard.

The President stated that Iran had entered negotiations with the United States sincerely and with a constructive approach, but for the second time was subjected to unlawful attacks in the middle of the talks. He said this proves that the United States does not believe in diplomacy and is merely seeking to impose its demands.

Emphasizing Iran’s inherent right to self-defense, Pezeshkian said: “We respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries and have no intention of attacking them, but unfortunately U.S. bases are located in these countries and attacks against us are launched from their territories, and these countries have failed to fulfill their international responsibility to prevent the use of their soil for attacks against Iran.”

The President stressed that the current situation in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is the result of hostile and aggressive actions by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, adding that the solution to normalizing the situation is the cessation of their aggressive attacks. “We have never sought tension or war at any stage, and we have the will to end this war while observing its requirements, especially the necessary guarantees to prevent a recurrence of aggression,” he said.

Pezeshkian further emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to vessels belonging to the aggressor parties and their supporters, warning that any foreign intervention under any pretext in this war and the current regional situation will have dangerous consequences.

He also advised European countries to adjust their policies and positions based on international law and in line with constructive and professional engagement, instead of adopting a destructive approach toward Iran.

For his part, António Costa emphasized the need to stop the war and tensions in the region and expressed concern over the negative political and economic consequences of the war globally. He stated that European countries have never supported this aggression against Iran and consider it contrary to international law and norms.

The President of the European Council also called for resolving issues through negotiations and peaceful solutions.
