Pezeshkian: Iran to Respond Firmly to Any Aggression; Lebanon Remains a Key Condition
Tehran - BORNA -President Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments, focusing on Pakistan's mediation efforts to end the conflict.
Iran’s Responsible Approach
Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government, particularly the Prime Minister and the Chief of Army Staff, for their constructive efforts. He stated: "Iran’s decision to accept Pakistan’s ceasefire proposal, despite the United States' long history of violating commitments and international law, demonstrates Iran’s responsible and authoritative approach."
He urged the regional and international community to seize this opportunity to pressure the aggressors to avoid repeating their "strategic mistakes." The President underscored that this approach remains strictly conditional on the genuine commitment of the hostile parties to the principles of negotiation.
Condemnation of Ceasefire Violations
Condemning several instances of ceasefire breaches, including attacks on Lavan and Siri islands on Wednesday morning, Pezeshkian warned: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will respond decisively to any encroachment." He further clarified that insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf is a direct consequence of U.S. and Zionist military aggression, asserting that the safety of this vital waterway is dependent on the total cessation of such acts.
The 10-Point Proposal and Lebanon
The President reiterated that Iran’s 10-point plan serves as the comprehensive framework for ending the war. He explicitly stated that a ceasefire in Lebanon is one of the pivotal and non-negotiable conditions within the Iranian proposal.
Pakistan’s Support for Peace
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed the deep condolences of the Pakistani government and people over the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, senior commanders, and a large number of Iranian civilians. He thanked Iran for accepting Pakistan’s mediation.
Sharif emphasized the necessity for all parties to adhere to the ceasefire, stating: "Israeli attacks against Lebanon must stop immediately as part of the understanding." He reaffirmed Islamabad’s readiness to engage with all regional countries to advance peace, stability, and security in the Persian Gulf and the broader region.
