Baghaei: Europe should stop using international law as a tool
The spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry said in response to the statements of the European Union’s foreign policy chief regarding Iran: Europe’s chronic failure to observe the rules of international law has turned their rhetoric about “international law” into a clear manifestation of hypocrisy.

Tehran - BORNA -  Esmail Baghaei, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to the statements of the European Union’s foreign policy chief who called on Iran to adhere to “international law” and “unconditionally open” the Strait of Hormuz, wrote in a post on the X: Which “international law” are you talking about? Do you mean the same “international law” that allows the European Union to consent to the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and turn a blind eye to the crimes committed against Iranians?!

“Please stop these speeches,” he added. Europe’s chronic failure to abide by the rules of international law has turned their speeches about “international law” into a blatant display of hypocrisy.” Baghaei stated.

“No rule in international law prevents Iran (as a coastal state of the Strait of Hormuz) from taking the necessary measures to prevent aggressors from misusing this strait to launch illegal attacks against Iran,” He added.

“The concept of ‘unconditional passage’ through the Strait of Hormuz has become practically irrelevant since the US military bases and facilities around this strait were used to carry out aggressive military operations against Iran, and the cause of this situation is undoubtedly the US,” the senior Iranian diplomat concluded.
