Baghaei: Iran's response to US is under review
The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Iran's response to the U.S. proposal is still under review, adding that Tehran will announce its position once a conclusion is reached.

Tehran - BORNA - Esmaeil Baghaei, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks on Friday afternoon on the sidelines of a memorial ceremony for Martyr Larijani and his son at the Imam Sadiq (AS) Mosque in Tehran.

Regarding the aggressive action taken by the U.S. military on Thursday night against two Iranian oil tankers near the port of Jask and the Strait of Hormuz, as well as assaults on several locations in coastal areas overlooking the Strait, Baghaei said: "The action taken by the U.S. military was a gross violation of international law and the ceasefire."

Pointing out that this was not the first time the Americans had violated the ceasefire, he noted: "The country's defenders gave a powerful response to this aggression."

The Foreign Ministry official emphasized: "Although we are nominally in a state of ceasefire, our Armed Forces are in full readiness, closely monitoring the situation, and will respond to any mischief with decisiveness."

In response to a question regarding Iran's answer to the U.S. proposal, Baghaei stated: "This matter is still under review, and we will announce it once we reach a conclusion."

Regarding reports that the Americans have set a deadline for Iran to respond to the plan, the diplomatic spokesperson remarked: "As I mentioned, this matter is still being examined; we are doing our job and pay no attention to such deadlines."
