FIFA: We had positive talks with Iran regarding participation in 2026 World Cup
Tehran - BORNA - Speaking on the sidelines of his visit to Istanbul, Mattias Grafström commented on the latest status of Iran's presence at the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing that he had an excellent and productive meeting with Mehdi Taj.
"We listened to all 10 conditions raised by Iran, and we provided solutions for each one of them. I hope that the Iranian national team will travel to the World Cup without any issues and achieve excellent results," Grafström stated.
The FIFA Secretary General refrained from providing specific details regarding visa procurement and entry arrangements into the United States but noted: "We discussed all related matters. Overall, it was a very positive meeting, and we look forward to continuing the dialogue."
Regarding Iran's schedule for the World Cup, the national team will depart Tehran for Turkey on Monday (May 18) to hold its preparatory training camp there, and will subsequently travel to its training camp at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona, in early June.
