Pakistani interior minister returns to Tehran for second time in less than a week
Tehran - BORNA -The sources confirmed on Wednesday that Senator Naqvi is visiting Iran for the second time in a matter of days, following his recent meetings in Tehran with the Iranian President, Foreign Minister, Parliament Speaker, and his Iranian counterpart.
During Naqvi's prior meeting in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s goodwill efforts to advance diplomacy and prevent further escalation. However, Araghchi slammed Washington's contradictory behaviors and extravagant demands as a major obstacle to the diplomatic path.
Pointing to past experiences of U.S. breach of promise and betrayal of diplomacy, the Iranian foreign minister underscored that the Islamic Republic's engagement in the diplomatic process to end the war was driven by a responsible approach, despite profound distrust toward the U.S. ruling establishment. He emphasized that while Iran remains serious about diplomacy, it will simultaneously spare no effort to enhance its readiness to defend its national security and interests.
For his part, the Pakistani interior minister pointed to his constructive and fruitful discussions with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and his ministerial counterpart, emphasizing the Pakistani government's special commitment to continuously elevating all-around relations with Iran.
Senator Naqvi further expressed hope that Islamabad's goodwill efforts would prove effective in establishing peace and stability in the region.
