Tehran Slams EU Statement on Iran's Self-Defense Actions Against US Aggression as 'Hypocritical'
Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, has strongly reacted to a statement by the European Union spokesperson that condemned Iran's self-defense measures against aggressive US attacks, characterizing the EU's stance as a clear example of hypocrisy and double standards.

Tehran - BORNA - Writing on his X account, Baghaei stated that the European Union's statement condemning Iran for exercising its legitimate right to self-defense against illegal US attacks—which originated from a southern Persian Gulf neighboring country—stands as a manifest example of hypocrisy and a double-standard approach, labeling the statement as both hypocritical and irresponsible.

The spokesperson emphasized that the European Union must remain committed to the principle of the rule of law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, which it has consistently claimed to uphold. He further noted that the EU must abandon its approach based on appeasing aggressors and blaming the parties that are defending themselves.

Concluding his remarks, Baghaei maintained that Iran's action in targeting the origins and facilities used for military aggression against the country constitutes a lawful action within the framework of the right to legitimate self-defense. He added that governments bear a legal obligation to prevent invading parties from utilizing their territory and facilities to launch aggressions against another nation.
