Gharibabadi: No Agreement Will Be Signed Until Iran’s National Interests Are Fully Guaranteed

Tehran - BORNA - Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran relies on its own authority, its people, and popular support, stating: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is an independent country, and it will make whatever decision it deems to be in line with its own interests, without waiting for a green light from any country."

In response to a question regarding whether he is concerned about a "red light" from others, he said: "You saw what a firm response the Islamic Republic of Iran, our Armed Forces, and our people delivered to the Zionist regime and the United States during this 40-day war. This decisive response marked a massive defeat for them and brought very brilliant victories for the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Regarding the latest status of the negotiations between Iran and the United States, the senior Iranian diplomat stated: "As long as the Islamic Republic of Iran does not reach the conclusion that an agreement addresses all of its concerns and anxieties, and that our national interests are fully guaranteed, naturally no agreement will be signed. This point can be emphasized with absolute certainty."

Continuing his interview with the IRIB News Agency, Gharibabadi responded to a question about the U.S. President's remarks claiming that the Iran-U.S. talks are progressing well, saying: "The Americans need this agreement and these negotiations, and this is an obvious matter; however, we will only join a negotiating process when our interests are secured."

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister added: "We do not currently feel a need for a negotiating process and an agreement, unless that agreement aligns with the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran."
