Pakistani Ambassador: Islamabad Ready to Propose Framework for Iran-U.S. Talks
Speaking on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Pakistan's Ambassador to Moscow stated that Islamabad remains ready to mediate and host negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Tehran - BORNA - Muhammad Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan's Ambassador to Russia, said in an interview with the TASS news agency: "Pakistan is always ready and available to play its role as a facilitator and mediator between the United States and Iran."

He further noted: "This is something we have told the Iranians; that we are always available, and we tell the Iranians as well as our friends in the Persian Gulf region that we are neighbors. We must have negotiation and dialogue."

The Pakistani diplomat also stated: "In my view, Pakistan is an acceptable host country for both the United States and Iran. We believe that wars are not the solution to global problems, especially when 22 percent of the world's energy supplies are provided through the Strait of Hormuz."

He continued to emphasize: "All of this depends on the parties to the conflict. Both sides are comfortable with Pakistan. The important point is that when the world was very close to an escalation of conflict, Pakistan managed to establish a ceasefire and extend it several times. War is not the solution to regional problems. We all share a common geography. We share a common history. Therefore, Pakistan will always side with peace, stability, and dialogue, rather than war, conflict, and chaos."

The Pakistani Ambassador to Moscow added that Islamabad has consistently been in touch with Russia regarding the Iran crisis, including within the framework of the United Nations Security Council.

He also pointed out: "We are constantly in contact with the Russian Federation, whether in Moscow, Islamabad, or New York. Pakistan is a non-permanent member of the Security Council, so our delegation and our permanent representative in New York are constantly in contact with their counterpart in the Security Council."

The Pakistani Ambassador to Moscow added: "If you have seen Pakistan's voting pattern in the Security Council, it speaks volumes about the level of understanding and ongoing dialogue between the two countries."
