Iran Condemns US Aggression as Blatant Violation of Ceasefire
Tehran - BORNA - The text of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement is as follows:
"This action, carried out in continuation of the hostile and provocative behaviors of the U.S. regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran, demonstrates the total disregard of the U.S. ruling body for the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter. The powerful Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of the inherent right to legitimate self-defense and with complete vigilance, decisiveness, and authority, delivered a proportionate and effective response to this aggressive act, preventing the malicious goals of the architects of this aggression from being realized.
The repeated violation of the ceasefire by the United States proves once again that this country not only lacks the will to de-escalate and return to the path of stability, but also places regional security at grave risk through its adventurous actions. Consequently, the responsibility for all consequences and ramifications arising from these illegal acts, as well as any potential escalation of tension, will rest solely with the U.S. government.
While emphasizing the country's inherent and legitimate right to self-defense based on Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran clarifies that the Islamic Republic of Iran will defend the sovereignty, security, and national interests of the country with all its might and by utilizing all its capacities. Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphatically calls upon regional countries to observe the principle of good neighborliness and adhere to the fundamental principle of international law regarding refraining from allowing aggressor parties to utilize their territory and facilities to design and execute aggressive actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also calls upon the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Security Council, and other responsible international bodies to show an immediate and effective reaction to the continuous blatant violation of the ceasefire and the illegal action of the United States, and to prevent the growing normalization of UN Charter violations and actions that threaten regional and international peace and security.
