The President of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that the American obstructions in issuing visas for the Iranian national football team stem from malice.

Tehran - BORNA - Mehdi Taj commented on the latest status of the national football team's participation in the World Cup, stating: "We do not know how far the American obstructions will continue."

He added: "They have permitted our national team to enter only one day before the match. The rulers of the United States are so widely detested that nobody desires to travel to that country, but the World Cup is being held there and we must attend. The meaning of the U.S. actions is pure malice and a total lack of equality between the competing teams."

He further noted: "It is truly astonishing that they interfere to this extent in the administration of football. This is an unprecedented act. The Football Federation will officially lodge its protest with FIFA, as the administration of football rests solely with FIFA. We anticipate that the malicious actions that have been carried out will continue."

Taj also stated: "We are not upset about not being present in the United States, and this is actually good for us. In any case, we do not know what kind of mischief they will pull at the airport. They have suffered defeats elsewhere against the people's resistance, and they are trying to complement and vent those failures on the football pitch. The fighters answered them with power on the battlefield, which was the right thing to do."

Concluding his remarks, Taj said: "Despite all the malice, we have no concerns, and the national team's affairs are being managed with complete authority. The reality is that the Iranian national football team is in the middle of a battle, and God willing, these boys will defend the country's authority."
