The official commemoration committee announces that the procession and burial ceremonies will take place following the first ten days of Muharram to ensure comprehensive public service coordination.

Tehran - BORNA - The official commemoration committee for the late Iranian Supreme Leader has announced that the funeral, procession, and burial ceremonies for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the deceased members of his family will be held after the first ten days of the Islamic holy month of Muharram.

In its second official statement released on Tuesday, the committee explicitly dismissed domestic and international media rumors regarding the timing of the procession, urging the public to disregard unverified reports.

The committee stated that the scheduling decision aligns with the late Supreme Leader’s lifelong dedication to the annual mourning rituals of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, during the first decade of Muharram. The timeline is intended to allow the uninterrupted holding of these major religious ceremonies across Iran and the wider world, while enabling state agencies and public volunteer groups to finalize logistical coordination for the massive crowds expected to attend.

The full text of the official statement reads as follows:

"In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Following extensive planning conducted to ensure a magnificent and solemn farewell, procession, and burial ceremony for the late mujahid martyr, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Khamenei—may his pure soul be sanctified—and the martyrs of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's family, it is hereby brought to public attention that recent speculations and rumors published in domestic and foreign media regarding the timing and specific details of the aforementioned ceremonies are entirely invalid and lack credibility. These unverified reports have only caused ambiguity for the countless devotees wishing to attend this historic event.

In accordance with the established practice of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution—may his noble station be elevated—in observing the mourning ceremonies for the Lord and Master of Martyrs, His Eminence Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), and given the vital importance of holding these traditional mourning rituals throughout Iran and across the globe, the ceremonies of farewell, procession, and burial of that unique figure of our time will be held after the first ten days of Muharram. This timeframe will also allow relevant state apparatuses and public volunteer groups to complete final logistics to properly serve the esteemed mourning public.

The precise details and schedule of these ceremonies will be officially announced by this committee in due course."
